"Our star has been green for years," says Ron Formby, Antares president. "Antares has been quietly setting world-class benchmarks for energy efficiency, air quality, and environmental responsibility, then setting them higher. That's the Antares Beyond Green philosophy."
Building an energy-efficient home makes a statement about your commitment to the environment. Oncor Electric Delivery and the Texas Association of Builders recently recognized Antares Homes as a leader among Texas homebuilders for constructing highly energy-efficient homes. As a winner of the 2007 Excellence in Energy Performance Award, Antares separated itself from the field by building homes that exceed ENERGY STAR requirements by more than 30 percent (collective average for all winning builders). Only four builders in the entire state of Texas received the prestigious award!
The concept is simple. Reduce the amount of energy required to operate a home, from heating to cooling to washing dishes. Our unique, holistic approach touches many systems. First, we minimize heat transfer between the indoors and outdoors to minimize the amount of energy required to heat and cool your home. Next, we add a 14 SEER HVAC system and programmable thermostats. Finally, we install only highly-efficient ENERGY STAR appliances.
Details matter. Every detail. On every home we build.
A typical wall contains pipes, wires, electrical outlet openings and other obstructions that make it difficult to fill with common fiberglass batts. The resulting gaps in coverage allow for excessive air infiltration, and energy consumption increases as the HVAC system works overtime to heat and cool the great outdoors. Cellulose insulation naturally fills and seals air pockets because it's sprayed into open wall cavities during installation. Not only is it better than fiberglass batts for eliminating air pockets inside walls, it's also environmentally friendly because cellulose is made from recycled materials. Homeowner comfort is also enhanced by reduced sound transmission. These are just a few reasons why Antares installs high-density cellulose insulation instead of traditional fiberglass batts. In fact, cellulose has been a standard feature on every Antares home for years.
Everyone knows that better insulation means improved efficiency, but the best insulation in the world is useless if your wall openings, joist seams or air ducts aren't sealed well. Some builders conduct random tests for air leakage. Antares Homes runs sophisticated blower door duct tests on every home we build to ensure the highest possible energy efficiency. That's a detail every Antares homeowner can count on when it comes time to pay the energy bill.
Save money. Be comfortable. Protect the environment.
Antares Homes is proud to be recognized for its ability to deliver homes that decrease overall demand for energy, reduce the cost of homeownership, and contribute to blue skies for Texas.
